Jim Myers
Jim Myers is a lower middle market M&A advisor with more than 35 years of experience in business acquisitions, corporate finance, banking, turnarounds, and real estate. He guides owners and buyers through transactions with the perspective of someone who has been an owner and advisor on both sides.
Jim operates across two concurrent practices. As founder and principal of GearWorks Capital, he runs sell-side and buy-side M&A engagements, bringing institutional discipline and operator experience to every transaction. Simultaneously, he serves as a Partner and Executive Committee Member at Inglewood, a Northeast Ohio advisory firm serving owners, boards, and lenders through critical business transitions — where he leads the M&A practice across acquisitions, due diligence, restructuring, and strategic growth.
Jim has operated as a principal — acquiring a minority stake in a regional truckload carrier and buying, operating, and selling Summit Moving & Storage in Akron, Ohio. He has been an active investor in industrial real estate throughout Northeast Ohio. Prior career positions include leadership roles at GE Capital Equipment Finance, National City Bank (now PNC), and the Federal Reserve Bank of Cleveland, where he developed expertise in financial analysis, deal structuring, credit, and portfolio evaluation.
Jim holds a finance degree from the University of Akron, an MBA from the University of Pittsburgh, and a certificate in Hotel Real Estate Investments & Asset Management from Cornell University.
Outside of work, Jim travels with his wife and two adult children — with a particular affinity for Greece — and is a member of Saints Constantine & Helen Greek Orthodox Church in Cleveland Heights, where he has served as President, Treasurer, and Trustee.
